Soccer

Soccer, also known as football in most countries outside of North America, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net using any part of the body except the arms and hands (goalkeepers are the exception, as they can use their hands within their penalty area). The game is typically played on a rectangular field with a grass or artificial surface, known as a pitch, and is governed by the Laws of the Game set by the International Football Association Board (IFAB).

Soccer is known for its global popularity, with millions of players and fans worldwide. Major competitions include the FIFA World Cup, UEFA Champions League, and various national leagues and tournaments. The sport emphasizes skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, and teamwork. Soccer has a rich history and has evolved through various formats and styles, making it one of the most played and watched sports in the world.
