Fotbal

„Fotbal“ is the Romanian term for „football,“ which refers to a team sport played primarily with the feet on a rectangular field. In most countries, it is known as soccer, particularly in the United States and Canada, where „football“ usually refers to American football. The game involves two teams of eleven players each, who aim to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net using any part of their body except their arms and hands (goalkeepers are an exception).

Football is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, established by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). The sport is one of the most popular globally, with prominent competitions such as the FIFA World Cup and various national leagues. Its focus on skill, teamwork, and strategic play makes it a widely played and watched sport across cultures, contributing to its status as a significant aspect of global sports culture.
