Soccer

Soccer, also known as football in most countries outside North America, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net, which is defended by a goalkeeper. Players, except for the goalkeeper, cannot use their hands or arms to touch the ball during play. The game is played on a rectangular field, often with grass, and is regulated by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, established by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). The sport is globally popular, governed by the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), which organizes international competitions such as the FIFA World Cup. Soccer is characterized by its continuous play, with two halves each lasting 45 minutes, and it is celebrated for its emphasis on teamwork, strategy, and skillful ball handling.
