Baseball

Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams, typically consisting of nine players each. The game takes place on a diamond-shaped field, which includes four bases arranged in a square. The objective of the game is for one team, known as the batting team, to score runs by hitting a ball thrown by the opposing team’s pitcher and then running around the bases to return to home plate. The opposing team, known as the fielding team, aims to prevent runs from scoring by getting batters or runners out through various means, such as catching batted balls or tagging runners with the ball.

The game is divided into nine innings, where each team has a turn to bat and a turn to field. Runs are scored when a player successfully reaches home plate after touching each base in sequence. Baseball is known for its strategic elements, including pitching tactics, batting techniques, and defensive plays. The sport has a rich history and is often referred to as America’s pastime, with a significant following in various countries, particularly in North America, Japan, and parts of Latin America. Key components of the game include the pitcher’s mound, the bases, the dugouts, and the outfield.
